New Sponsor - Dryshirt

You'll see on the forum that we have a new sponsor. DryShirt UK & Dryshirt.co.uk were formed in 2007 as the sole UK & European retail dealer of the Dry, Inc products and supply the UK & European sports markets with the proprietary DryshirtT, Proguard and ProwiKT channel matrix system ranges. They are active in the sports of high performance sailing and mountain biking and personally use the Dry Inc products on a weekly basis. What's more there is a special Scottish Series offer on just now. Imagine that: being dry on Loch Fyne! Follow the link (which is now fixed) and find out all about it.

New Clyde Yacht

What's this? It's the new Mills/King 40 which it is hoped will arrive in the UK on 7th May in time for BLSS. Well we hope so too. The completed version in the picture directly above is going to New York but the one with the Hoover hose in its snout is the one which will be campaigned by the Allan Hogg team. The Mills/King designation comes from design by Mark Mills obviously but the design is called the King 40 and is built by Summit Yachts in Argentina. Summit Yachts? Co-founded by Barry Carroll apparently. It certainly looks a very sexy IRC friendly hull and when the stick goes on it will be a carbon affair with non overlapping headsails and masthead kite (masthead bag for you RNCYC members). It's even supposed to have some sort of cruisable interior (well they all say that). Anyway I think this is a very exciting addition to the Clyde and it would be fun to see it give those boring Beneteaus a good thrashing.

Dane Ralston who we thank for sending in the photos adds: Allan Hogg is the owner, formerly of Sigma 33 fame with Bobby Napier (european Champions). He has since had a Grand Soleil 40 (Freya), a Grand Soleil 45 (Blue Magic) and a Mumm 30 (white magic) in which we won the UK national series in 2005. Should be a good laugh and will hopefully drag a few other Clyde owners onto new boats!

If anyone else has any pictures of their new boat do send them in and we can display them with comments to intimidate your opposition (not!) So long as they are not of an eyesore like that thing on the front cover of this month's Yachting Life. The last thing that ugly was Calmac's 'Pioneer'

SUSA

Not the bloke who wrote all those marches but the Scottish Unwashed Sailing Association championships at Largs. Looks pretty chilly being sailed over the Easter weekend what with Arran being clad in its winter raiment as old Poucher might have said. There were 11 teams in the event sailed in Sunsail Sunfast 37s and sponsored by Largs Chandlers, SSI and Largs Yacht Haven. Aberdeen as seen in the first pic won and go forward to represent Scotland in the World Student Yachting Championship in La Rochelle in the summer. Aberdeen were skippered by Gareth Martell from Ballyholme and you can observe that he is Sonata sailor for whom reefing is an unknown practice. We note also that one Jennifer Park was also on the Aberdeen team and conclude that maybe one can learn something about racing on an FYC Moody 38 after all.....

2nd Edinburgh 1, 3rd Old Boys, 4th Glasgow A, 5th Glasgow B.
