Commodore's Cup
We note with interest the sporadic discussion on the forum regarding a Scottish team for the Commodore's Cup. The event looks like having a fantastic entry this year and according to Hamish McKay who is the fount of knowledge on the subject we are just lacking for a small boat (IRC 1.025- 1.074) . Let us hope that one will be offered before the closing date at the end of Feb.
Local Heroes?

Graeme Busby of HSC writes :
We held the first races of our winter series on Sunday 27th Jan. We were very lucky and had a reasonable weather window which allowed us to get both planned races in. We had an amazing turn out of 37 boats, - amazing what the offer of a free pie does! Numbers were boosted by the Toppers who were at HSC for a training weekend. Two SB3s proved that not all the keel boats have gone into hibernation and they started with the faster boats. Neil Rosie sailed Duncan 'Laser' Hepplewhite's boat to a narrow win in the first race but finished further down the field when the wind kicked in a bit more for the second race and allowed the dinghies to do their thang. Next races are on Sunday 10th Feb. Full info can be found on the HSC website.

Excel Boat Show - Our man at the Excel Boat Show reports that there was nothing really cool to be seen and nothing worth the taking of a photo. He said the boat he'd most have liked to have taken home was the Elan 340 and we think that would have been a good choice.

Some of you may already have followed the link on Sailing Anarchy but for those who haven't I suggest you take a look at Matias Capizzano's work. There are some absolutely outstanding images of what appears to be a round of the Rolex Atlantic Circuit - these ones taken off Argentina. The pics show a variety of boats from some modest IOR looking affairs right through to some pretty modern hardware. Some of the sea conditions would be virtually unthinkable for the kind of round the cans racing that we're used to. It was hard to pick just one example to show here and we're most grateful to Matias for giving permission to reproduce it. Head over to capizzano.com and take a look for yourselves. We need to see this kind of stuff to get the interest going for the coming season.
Also, why not go over to the discussion forum and explain why we should hold the Scottish Series off Argentina? It's a bit quiet in there just now.

We're sorry to see Dame Ellen's record go back across La Manche but if anyone deserves to reclaim it, it is M. Joyon. Toutes felicitations Francis.
