Loch Long Week

John McMurtrie Jnr of Cove Sc writes:

Here's a Loch Long at Cove being prepared for the long haul South to Loch Long Week which is being held at Aldeburgh for the second time in 5 years. There are 8 boats travelling from Cove and 1 team borrowing a boat (there are 15 LLs currently at Cove and with a new buyer getting their boat after Aldeburgh there will then be 16). With around 25 Aldeburgh boats entering it's looking to be another successful week. More information at http://www.aldeburghyc.org.uk For one of the Clyde's oldest remaining one design fleets it's not a bad show.

Topper Worlds

Rory Kilgore from Cove SC is competing in the Topper Worlds at Tralee Bay SC, Kerry, Ireland. Out of 180 entries only 10 are from Scotland. We wish Rory every success.

Kip Wednesday evening

Turnouts on a Wednesday evening at Kip can be quite variable but this shot from the committee boat shows that the Class 2 starts can be quite close. We have a few more pictures here.

Dragon Edinburgh Cup

Not on the Clyde - sailed at Royal Western Yacht Club, Plymouth but the Dragon is a class with Clyde associations and we were sent this rather good collection of photos. And you can See results here

Canal Dreams

Comedy Cup

As we all know it was a pity that the North Britain team fell through for various reasons but well done to the Abso*lutely boys for hanging in there. It looked like an exciting event ending with 30 knot near gale sailing and lots of damage. Also as you'll know GBR Red (Ker 46, Ker 39, Corby 39) won the event with IRL White (Kers 39,37,32) and IRL Green (Mills 43,40,37) in 2nd and 3rd. Previous winners France were 4th.(First 45, A40, A 35) . Read the results and see lots of photos on the event website

2008 Scottish Series winner Gery Trentesaux is seen here getting out the gaffer tape for his broken carbon boom.

West Highland Week entries are bulding. IRC entries are being accepted for Class 1 - all comers from .970 upwards but with nothing slower than Holdfast II so far. Class 5 is a very tight band 14.00-15.50 while class 3 is anything less than 13.75. Seems slightly odd. We won't be there but will be happy to post any good photos or goss you might send in. Starts Sun 3rd Aug. Get entry form here

CCC as far as the CCC goes, those who are not away to the Festival Of The Sea at Brest can enjoy the Tobermory Race 19-21st July. Thereafter 16/17th Aug is the Troon race weekend. The CCC website is still a mess and we hope the new version appears soon. Just in passing we much regret the falling out with the CCC of the highly regarded ex Commodore and his Green Boat. It shouldn't have happened.
