Great picture by Hamish Forbes of mental windsurfers at Troon over the stormy weekend

Another windy Sunday for Week 5 of the FYC autumn points. Full report here.

Chas is back from his holiday at a place that had much nicer weather than Largs for the 4th in the FYC Autumn series.

Here's Sorr of Appin doing what Westerlys do best in FYC week 4

QE2 greenock

As we are currently trying to keep Troika nice and tidy in the hope that some enlightened person will come along and buy her we did not go out racing but instead joined the flotilla accompanying the QE2 up the Clyde. Such a good looking vessel. Racing off Kip appeared pretty dismal with plenty of sunshine but next to no wind. Afterwards we went for QE2 afternoon tea - always at 4pm in the Grand Ballroom.

Whatever, this is Gilmac, sailed by John McMillan and Stan Wichlaj which took the Classics prize at the FF Scottish at Monklands 21/22Sep. Pic courtesy of Alan Henderson of Fotoboat. Captions welcome...

FYC Autumn Points

The inaugural races of this Kip Marina and Largs Yacht Haven Autumn Series were sailed off Kip Marina on Sunday. A 26 boat entry has been received by the organising Fairlie Yacht Club. This twin venue event is quite unique with the first 3 weeks sailed off Kip and the final 3 weeks sailed in the Largs channel. Reciprocal berthing has been organised at each marina for annual berthers as part of the sponsorship deal. A single IRC class has been set up along with 2 CYCA classes to accommodate the range of yachts entered. Read the report of Day One here.

The ever popular FYC Autumn Points Series starts off this weekend 28th September. First 3 Sundays at Kip then the next 3 at Largs with reciprocal berthing. It's not too late to get entered.

Another (Clyde built) boat for sale.

This is a well kept little Bolero 26 designed by the notorious David Thomas and which would be worth inspecting if you're in the market for a good performing and well equipped cruiser/racer for under £10k. It's been successful in the racing at Kip and the chaps there would like to see it stay around. It would also be eminently suitable for joining the 1/4 ton racing revival.
