Alright for Some

Dane Ralston sends a pic of what he describes as 'some eedjits' out for a shakedown sail (delivery rags) on 1st March. Good for them we say.
Holy Loch Sailing Club Flying Fifteen Event - 18th and 19th April 2009
John Orr writes : For 2009 this regatta has been moved to the start of the season in an effort to minimise clashes with other events. There will be more prizes and after our successful event last year we are looking forward to more visitors and a good sailing and sociable weekend. Read the blurb:
Racing for Silver and Classic Fleet Flying Fifteens
This event is organised by Holy Loch Sailing Club and aims to bring together owners and crews of Classic and Silver Fleet Flying Fifteens from around the Firth of Clyde, West of Scotland and elsewhere for two days of racing and socialising. Racing will take place on Saturday afternoon and on Sunday with a prize giving each day after racing. A variety of courses will be used with up to 4 races taking place over the two days. The first race on Saturday will be at 12.00hrs and will be preceded by a briefing at 11.00hrs. The first race on Sunday will be at 11.00hrs. To encourage participation the requirement for valid measurement certificates has been waived although the RSS 2009 and Flying Fifteen class rules will be adhered to. There will be a prize for each race and an overall event trophy. The overall winner will also have their name added to the Flying Fifteen painting which hangs in the HLSC clubhouse. The event is open to boats with sail number below 3400 and all boats will race together with Silvers (sail no 2701 – 3400) sailing with a PY of 1039 and Classics (up to 2700 plus higher numbers on the classic register) sailing with a PY of 1051.
On the Saturday evening straight after the prize giving a buffet at the Bombay Indian Restaurant (cost £10 per head food only and not included in entrance fee) has been organised for competitors, supporters and friends. Hot Rolls will be available at the clubhouse on Sunday morning and light refreshments will be available after sailing both days. Full sailing instructions will be available on the day. The entry fee for the event is £30 per boat. The Saturday night curry buffet is £10 per head and is payable on the day. Contact John Orr for an entry form to be returned by 10th April.

Douglas Clow's venerable 'Guilty' at the Serpent YC autumn muster after trying to stuff out Troika at Strone Point. SYC were too polite to put this on their own website but we have no such reservations.

It's old news now but here are a few pics from Alan Macleod showing prestart, part of the dock and the crew lineup including 4 Tanits.

Kevin & Debbie Aitken's replacement for Duckwall Pooley arriving soon. This is a stock publicity shot but we believe the one coming to Rhu is the London boat show exhibit. There certainly appears to be at least some similarity to the E37 but lots of differences as well. It should at least be an easier beast to manage than old Duckwall.
