FYC Social Discussion Evening |
The Fairlie Yacht Club would like to invite members, friends and crew to an evening of short presentations and discussions at the Chartroom, Kip Marina on the evening of Wednesday the 12th of March 2008 at 7.30pm.
As the scorching hot, endless days of another Scottish summer approach all our thoughts turn towards the new season. With this in mind the club are offering an evening of short talks by The Ocean Youth Trust and Sail Scotland about their work and aims, respected local sail maker John Highcock will talk to us about sail care and the innovations in sail materials of the last few years and Robert Kitchen will introduce Portavadie Marina to us, how to get there and all they have to offer.
In addition there will be a chance to discuss OOD duties and a demonstration of the flag and sound signal sequence to help us all shake the cobwebs out. Other topics include a talk on the new courses for 2008 and a demonstration of improvements to the web site from the committee.
The evening will be rounded off with a masterclass on mark rounding by John Highcock followed by a question and answer session - hopefully involving everyone! Although I am sure the free tea and biscuits will be enough for our members the bar will be open throughout for anyone wishing to get that little bit of pre-season training in…
The evening is for members, crew, family and friends and as such the club would be delighted if members bring along a few folk with them to help us raise the profile of the club at this time.
